I'm suprised everyone doens't know a certain spot that frequently yields superior vigor runes. I'm glad too... A.net hasn't nerfed this particular one yet.

Listen whats the point in posting just to say that you have a great spot and you are not going to tell anyone? So many people post saying "omg noob i make 10k a minute" Its not helpfull in the slightest and its pointless.

do you not think that 20golds and maybe 20 purples is good for an hours work?
can get 60 k in a couple of hours.....

Well, I do get alot of white items there now, and before I got a purple item almost every run. I quess ANet s just checking this topic non-stop, just to check which chest they forgot to nerf

Agree...

Pre 6/30/05 update: DC runs, average 1 purple per run, 1 gold per 3 runs, 2 blue per 4 runs, 3 white per 6 runs.

Post 6/30/05 update: DC runs, average 1 purple per 5 runs, 1 gold per 15 runs, 2 blue per 4 runs, 3 white per 2 runs.

I have done the 'Post Update' runs on-and-off for 2 days and it keeps coming up near the same, w/ 30 runs.

I would have to say that the algorithm for what that barrel kicks-out, while maybe not 'nerfed', has definitely been 'tweaked' - and tweaked hard at that.

I took about 3 min. per run (lvl 15 Ranger/Elem) and it would take around 1.5 hrs per 30-run session. Yes, it gets boring, but the gold was good at first.

I would make 4600g (pre) and 2900g (post). AND 6-10 named items (pre) and 2-5 (post).

Yes - tweaked, nerfed, 'updated'...call it what you want. Bots have killed the DC for us.

The sad thing is - I JUST got there on 6/29/05. - I have found a 'lower, need to kill a bunch solo' farming/trying to make a bit of cash spot - and I'm not posting it here, that's for sure. I think it's a very unsuspecting spot, until word gets out. It only yields about 2k per hour, but I figure it's like going to work in the morning:
- log on
- farm for an hour (make 1.5-2.5k)
- do a mission or a couple of quests
- whatever next suits me fancy...

Botters killed farming, not just the DC chest.

Yes, yes - I'm sorry - I was just using the DC as an example. Farming, at least at a high level, (and before i got there) is dead.

Also, when it is said that an exploit has been 'taken care of' - I take that as either an EXP or GOLD exploit. Either way, it was getting GOLD or EXP at a high rate.

I do got vacation at the moment, still 8 weeks to go, so I'm sure I've got the the armor at the end of my vacation

Obsidian armor isn't impossible to get - at least - not yet anyway. I can make roughly 20,000g at the end of the day, (farming, trading, transforming materials). And that's enough for me. I play a good 4-6 hours per day, and I don't 'make money' all the time. I try to PvP as much as I can too.

So yeah, it will take me 25 days to get Obsidian armor. Not too bad. Only 3 weeks.

What I don't get is why chest farm when you can kill a bunch of mobs and get tons of XP plus drops ? Today I did the DC run about 20 times and made about 2000 in 30 minutes. I then went to Forge and went west to the troll area and smited trolls with my N/Mo. Yielded about 5000 in 30 minutes. The big difference was the entire level I gained from smiting them dead

You are right, its allmost impossible. Also the current system forces you into endless trade sessions because merchants dont offer anything for your goodies. Why not add a little change and stimulate exploring maps at the same time like this:

Wearable items should drop directly from monsters. And bosses should drop the best. Traders and collectors should sell decent non magical stuff, but if you want something really good... Bosses!

That's an exaggeration... or if it was possible at one time, is definitely not anymore. I've spent more than six hours farming that run, both chests and the barrell. Made a total of around 15k, with maybe 10 gold drops that I couldn't sell to save my life with three nights of trying. If 20 golds/purples and 60k is the way it used to be, then that run has been seriously nerfed.
